Cassandra the mermaid-gypsy, lifted her colorful long skirt, to cross over the overflowed river, showing off her newlong tanned legs that were kissed by the fishes that jumped from the river and all over her legs and feet, as she step quickly over the pointy uneven rocks and wet slippery logs.
She laughed and laughed as the friendly fishes, and the human like frogs called her name and sang for her,
“Cassandra!, Cassandra!, Cassandra! Dance a waltz bella Cassandra…”
And the wind lited her skirt some more and played with her hairlocks laughing mischievously as it whispered to her funny and fresh nonsense to her ears. And she submissively danced for the suns, the winds, and the frogs too.
Ah, how much he loved the Sun’s son, the Wind of the East. He adored his muse, the unique mermaid-gypsy Cassandra. He loved to rest his white as cloud hair over her bared breasts, messing with the silky and soft fabric of her corset and skirt, soft as the wind itself and sheer as a tulle.
And she let him be. He was her lover and her owner. Nothing he did was wrong. She laughed, and laughed, kicking her feet at the small rock pebbles and the fishes that were again kissing her legs and letting her pet them as she sang joining the wind’s melodic voice sing a romancero, a poem turn to song.
” Oh’ I’m the worst sinner of them all; But Foolish men who accuse
women, without reason,
without seeing that you are the occasion
from the same
as you blame her;
If forward unsurpassed
you solicit their wrong and disdain,
why you want them to do good If YOU
incite them to do evil?
Her resistance you fight,
and then gravely,
you say, It was her lightness what did the diligence.
Apparently wants the boldness
of your crazy believes,
believe the shorty ‘dam that made a bogeyman of you.
And then You fear her…
—from Sor Juana Inez de La Cruz
And the fish in the water sing,
Hombres necios que acusáis
a la mujer sin razón,
sin ver que sois voz la ocasión
de lo mismo que culpáis:
si con ansia sin igual
solicitáis su desdén,
¿por qué queréis que obren bien
si la incitáis al mal?
Cambatís su resistencia
y luego, con gravedad,
decís que fue liviandad
lo que hizo la diligencia.
Parecer quiere el denuedo
de vuestro parecer loco creer
al niño que pone el coco
y luego le tiene miedo.
There singing like the rocks in the overflowed river goes Cassandra,
until she trips and fall, to never more be found. Only but her colorful yellow, red and white skirt return to the the other side of the river. The sad fish, the humanlike frogs, the fishermen and housewives in town, even the regular people in town day and night desperate called her name through the mouth of the dam and the river.
“Cassandra! Cassandra!. Cassandra. Ven bailemos!”
Donde has hido; donde estara ella?
No one new her real name, she was just the new gypsy girl in town, only the wind knew she’d gone far East, and then far South, looking for some Sunshine and new waters to swim in.
He asked the frogs and the southern gators and dolphins to watch after her. Even the gecos were sent to look after her and write to her letters, poems, and songs, that the wind couldn’t. And she always wrote him back, even when there were times that didn’t knew it was her. And her pen name was once Cassandra, even though he now calls her Lola.
And one day as she sang her song, a young fisherman came to her and asked her her name. But when he asked her her name she laughed swimming away but this time with the body of a mermaid….
He believed he heard her say,
“I WAS HIS CASSANDRA!”
“Making our world nicer and fun is your job; making you aware of it is mine.!”
Each day I wake up I do it listening to Bay News 9, CNN, or maybe the Fox News, and each and every time there are bad news going around, flowing on a bar line at the bottom screen of my TV. And I think how can I not talk about this. How do people can ignore it when we should actually try to do something about it, somehow. Yes I may sound like a lunatic wanting on fixing the world. Like a dreamer needing to make the world perfect. Or like a child dreaming and hoping to be a hero. And I may be all of the above. But I know when people take a stand for what they care, without being fanatic or violent, they can achieve that that they are thriving for.
We don’t need to be a hero, lunatic or dreamer, we just need to use our constitutional rights and gather to make Unions, no matter that “Corporate America” will try to force us into waiving that unalienable right. We can call our Senators, and Gov. State Representatives and ask them to sign a project that’s being proposed, like a health insurance, or laws that protects people instead of hurting them, for example lowering taxes etc. things of that sort.
You can simply call them when you feel you or someone close to you have being lied to, or scammed by any merchant or company through misleading promises, false advertisements, or even fraud. We as consumer has that right. This is just some of the little things people can take action on, or gather to do. Just don’t seat there complaining or calling lawyers to try to sue some big shot company that you may not be able to go against and win. Call your City representative or even your local Chamber of Commerce. I’ve seen seniors and unsatisfied customers reaching out to them and I’ve seen some of those people actually interceding.
I do not discard whatsoever from any idea of how things can be solved in our lives, communities and our world in general. Law suits are also valid options when other means doesn’t work. For example I wish I can sue Mitt Romney for offensive statements against seniors and the poor, and minorities in general. Like reporters say he is against the Dream Act, and against people that are looking to be self sufficient but the government is not giving them their “rightful economic” assistance and is plotting like Mitt Romney here to be in power to wipe all assistance to the poor and of course raise the taxes to those low and middle class citizen that actually need help and not a slap on their faces with those high tax bills.
People need tax incentives. Small business companies needs tax incentives. Moguls like Mary Lynch/ Chase, Bank of America, and all those people should pay back those tax incentives they received and instead of using them to help America’s economy and the American Citizens, they went ahead and gave their CEOs and their high level employees and owners large bonuses, and continue in the meantime having our middle class and lower to poor class Citizens without home or loosing their homes to foreclosure and unnecessary bankruptcies, since they could have been prevented by those traversed incentives that were initially giving out to help the US economy and not to make the rich richer. But that’s how this world is made. The rich get richer and the poor gets poorer and is very little we the people can do when there’s not a system that can work towards equality.
And even though that can’t make things better, unless we work hard and get results.
Achieving small things, small changes will not make anyone entirely happy, but is a start. What will give us happiness as the consumerist society we are, is acquiring things, having money to put food on the table, to spend it doing activities with our couples, children, friend; our loved ones.
In any order. So here comes in the Unions, that are now in risk of extinction, and the actions required to be able to make those changes needed in our own economy. People have to strive to get better salaries, specially women, and for women.
Women more than anyone needs better working hours, to still be able to care and nurture their families.
Most importantly, those woman that works while also taking care of a family as myself and are in the same situations, we need better working accommodates so we can take our lunch at certain hours, or leave certain days earlier, or begin our jobs at a later time if needed. Maybe having a flexible schedule like a 4/10 or similar so working woman (not the kind you are thinking) but working mothers and head of household woman, and single fathers too, so they can actually get to do all the important things are needed to do better themselves, finish an education, a career, help their children, our future do excel in school and in the community and later one make our world a better place. Cause the world as we know it should not be in the hands of the Government that does not care for the poor, the minorities. (Seniors, disables, and veterans, women, children and the officially called minorities African Americas, and Latinos.) No. Our world should not be in the hands of unreliable Governments; Our worlds should be in the hands of our children.

PS. There’s is so much more I can add here, but I’m leaving them out for now. Feel free to share your thoughts and comment!
Women tend to be the strongest and worst critics when it comes to criticizing their own. But men, they will have a love-hate relation with women that seem strong, and powerful to them. Men call these women, all names from feminists, to power junkies, to lesbians, or worst.
Well, I am a business woman, I sell travel, I sell my books, I sell insurance and services, I sell cars, and I love being my boss. Do I make a lot of money? No. Do I feel powerful? You bet I do!. Am I a money or power junkie or a feminist? No! Be sure of that!!!
I hate being condemned for wanting to earn a living in a way that is enjoyable to me. I hate being condemned for enjoying challenge, and appreciate the reward of being a dedicated business woman. Being a Sales person does not make me much money, neither trying to grow my own business. But that is something I enjoy. Something I love to do, to work, to write, to market travel offers, to sell leading brand eye wears, cars, and more. Plus to market and sell my 2 books. I study for that, to do just that. And I’m not done learning.
Yes, this is a rambling note/blog, more like a monologue since I do not intend to go into an intrinsic topic about why am I on a “power ride” like some so called “friends” have told me on my own face.
I simply intend to comment about a situation that Ive being into and that I feel some other women, specially mothers, who also are mixing their motherhood, and spousal duties, with “Corporate America” and who are probably a mother and a father at the same time like my older daughter and working and fighting to go up in the business ladder, but are too exhausted to be made guilty of trying to bring bread to the table, and become successful at the same time, and not being valued or loved enough. But, in their name, I say enough is enough. I demand better. Women deserve better! Don’t we?
Someting about me, so you all get to meet me a bit better; I was a Banker once, an Insurance Broker/Sales person with the owner’s business license as back up, since I was in progress of getting mine, until I got duped, and in the end I lost money. Today I have nothing to show for it, for all my hard work, I’ve done at banks, as entry level in many Sales fields, Management, etc. Today nothing is enough….
So I said to myself, “I am not going to say good-bye to this “Corporate America” devil, I will join it by becoming my own boss. And I did it.
Now I have to fight for all that I want to achieve. I have to jump in that power horse, and market, market, market, and promote myself, promote my writings, my work, and build a business somehow, everything I do and wish to achieve, and to prove myself but only to myself, to be in an equal level with men and those people who have treated me and other women less. Like they are superior or some crap.
But by no means I am some sort of feminist, or anything. I’m simply a woman who wishes to be on eye level with men. Dig the terrain, shoulder to shoulder, with them. And anyone who doesn’t appreciate that, will only get from me a sneer, a roll of my eyes, or a sarcastically response. And if someone asks me again “Why am I on a “power ride?” Simple, baby. Because I can!

This is my story;
I am an Amateur Photographer, and Artist and an Author. Yes. I’m a Published Author. My books are in Amazon.com search by my name. But besides that I’m mainly a Blogger, since I can remember, and a jack of all traits. I do Sales Consulting, Collections, Marketing, even Management. But my life is in the letters and the photography. That and journalism, any journalism attracts me a lot. I used to dream of being a Traveling Writer so I could circle the world and write about it, plus write my little poems and stories from exotic and amazing incredible places. But as it is it all stayed in dreams. I have circled the world through my friends and families, maybe I should interview them and beg them to live precariously through their stories and images. Maybe I get my story then. I just love writing, it fills up certain void in my life. It brings me joy.
As a young girl I knew I was an Artist and a Writer. Even by elementary school, I would read tons of books and then write my own ending or my sequels of them. I would not show anyone feeling totally embarrassed and thinking it was something wrong, like plagiarizing or just reading something that wasn’t age appropriate. In school my poems and creative drawings adorned the teacher’s classrooms, and the Principal Hernandez’s (RIP), office. Since I was a very young gifted & hyper child who loved to write and paint, he would encourage me to paint, write, or read to stay out of trouble. He made me promised him to one day become a teacher or a lawyer. I said how bout a writer? He said, “Writer is good, but they don’t make money. You should be a lawyer if you don’t want to be a teacher. But study hard cause to be a lawyer you need to read a lot, and big book.” That killed it for me. I never liked reading big books. So secretively I settled for Writer. He never knew. The last time he saw me, I had enrolled college as Elementary Teacher, but then changed my major to Computer and Business. He would probably like that too. See, I never met my father, so indirectly he was the father figure I needed.
I can’t say that I turned out to be a great Writer. But I’m happy with what I write and having the world wide web, the social networks, sites like wordpress, where I can share my passion for writing with others that shares the same joy, passion, and love for what they do. I really cherish all of my stories, my poems, drawings, and writings with all my heart.
My stories, poetry, blogs, and my arts and photographs, they mean a great deal to me. So I decided to share my creative work with the world, with the only hope that with you opinions and comments I get to learn more of this tasks and improve myself and my writings everyday. I only wish that I don’t get bullied, mocked, criticized, or called Autistic for my love for the letters and the Arts in general and to be able to morph into a great butterfly coming out of my cocoon with better brighter colors and lots of great artistic works to share with all.
So if you enjoy my blog and stories, Please Re-share it, Like it, Comment on it and Share it with your friends and loved ones, and the friends of your friends, etc. Also #followme here and in #twitter as @EvelynBlogger or in #instagram as @EvesCollection 🙂
